| Headlines English kids run for Romanian kids When Tony Atkinson and Jay Mistry got back from their teacher exchange in Romania, they told their pupils all about Scoala Speciala "Transilvania" - and told them how lucky they were at Kingfisher to have money for equipment and resources. One of the boys in their class (Demetrius), said that he would like to challenge all the pupils at Kingfisher to run a mile so as to raise money for this Romanian school. He trained for weeks and gave out a sponsor form to anyone who wanted to join in. Unfortunately 2 days before the run, Demetrius broke his ankle falling off the climbing frame! This didn't stop him and he completed his mile in a wheelchair! Lots of other pupils joined in on a marked course around school on Thursday 13th July 2006. Due to this noble gesture on the part of the staff and pupils from The Kingfisher Community Special School, the Romanian children and teachers will now be provided with new equipment for their school. |
